Within CDS, Business System Services (BSS) is responsible for 24x7 operations of important and business critical SAP systems and applications embedded in an international delivery approach. The Business System Services (BSS) unit focused on build and operation services for OS, DB and SAP Basis. As part of the BSS the global database team is responsible for all databases for internal business & support systems. Beside project delivery and day to day administration we are part of strategic pilot projects for new technologies as reference for SAP customers. The database team is located in St. Leon-Rot, Dresden, India and Mexico. Beside administration we implement new technologies in the lifecycle management of databases. Driving continuous improvement is our main focus to increase operation effectiveness, availability and efficiency. Automation, infrastructure landscape re-architecture and new technology adoption is another important part driven by the DB Platform teams. We are looking for an IT Data Center Associate (f/m) as Database Administrator to join the 7x24 shift worker team with a technical background for supporting server management and database administration in the area internal business & support systems.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
As an IT Data Center Associate (SM/DB) you are responsible for:
- Ticket processing and coordination
- Alert handling, incl. analysis, documentation and reduction of errors in OS and Database Environment
- Operation and Maintenance of datacenter specific platforms (e.g. Unix, Linux, Windows)
- Operation and Maintenance of SAP internal database platforms (e.g. HANA, ASE)
- Setup and Coordination of Downtimes and creating escalation path of non-available systems
- Coordinate DB installation and upgrade on common database platforms
- Improve Database Operations Processes together with other teams
- Close collaboration with 3rd Level Team Members or SAP Development to engineer early products under real live customer conditions
- Working in international teams and driving global knowledge transfer and best practices
- Handling and Use of implemented Service-Management-Systems The participation in a shift model (7x24h) is required.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Ideally 3+ years work experience running and supporting complex IT production systems as well as experience in System Administration and Database Administration / Support. Graduates are Welcome to apply as well! EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Successful qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software or Electrical Engineering (e.g. Education as an IT Specialist in Systemintegration, Bachelor or another degree of a comparable training class)
- Good knowledge in IT-Support / Service Management
- Fluent English and German is mandatory
- Database administration experience within different system solutions
- Very good understanding of Database Administration and the willingness to learn new Database specific technologies
- Analytical & problem solving skills and used to work customer orientated
- High level of operating system administration skills e.g. UNIX, Linux, Windows
- SAP Basis Technology knowledge would be beneficial as well as technical expertise and support in optimizing System Operation and System ArchitectureStart Oktober 2015
