EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Currently, our team focuses on developing an innovative solution for Product Lifecycle Costing (PLC). As Ph.D. student in the Research & Innovation team, you will have the unique opportunity to combine applied research with state of the art product development in the area of PLC. Supported by your supervisors in the team and at your university you will develop innovative concepts and prototypes based on customer needs. You will also support the ongoing development of future solutions. As Ph.D. Student, you are expected to:
- Define and drive your research work independently and complete your thesis within 3 years
- Write research papers and present results at workshops and conferences
- Contribute to on-going development work in the team
- Collaborate within your team and beyond including international SAP colleagues, academic researchers, and customers. In the first months of your work, you will define a research challenge within one of these topic areas:
- Efficient handling of engineering changes and the (re-)costing process
- Efficient management of time-dependent costing data such as prices and labor rates
- Costing across entire the product lifecycle including production, use, maintenance, disposal
- Simulating and predicting the impact of changes on product costs, e.g. changes in commodity prices, exchange rates, labor rates
WORK EXPERIENCE
1-2 years of experience in software development (including internships/working student employments etc.)
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Graduate with excellent diploma or masters degree in Computer Science, Business Information Technology, or a related field
- Very good English and good German language skills - oral and written
- Passion for software development and good knowledge in one or more of these technologies/programming languages: C#/.NET, HTML5, JavaScript, databases, and SQL
- Contact to a university and professor(s) who could potentially supervise your dissertation
- Strong interest and self-motivation for applied research
- Positive mindset, team player, humble, transparent, open to changes
- Basic business knowledge, in particular controlling or product costing would be highly beneficial Your set of application documents should contain a cover letter, a resume in table form, school leaving certificates, current university transcript of records, copies of any academic degrees already earned, and if available, references from former employers (including internships).
