Our developers and designers work on projects that provide solutions ranging from cloud-based financial applications that support the decision-making process of managers with real-time information, to projects such as the Boardroom Redefined, which allows managers to access data from SAP systems in a meeting setting via large touch-screen interfaces. As we are dealing with large data sets that can easily reach billions of data points, you have the opportunity to write algorithms that are scalable to run compatibly in the backend, as well as design user interfaces that visualize complex financial information in an easy-to-consume manner. Location for this position is Potsdam. There is a shuttle for SAP employees running from Berlin to Potsdam and back every day.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As part of the SAP Innovation Center team, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, communicating and collaborating with partners and customers, software engineers and product managers. Your tasks may include:
- Create detailed visual designs and collaborate with the development team until achieving a pixel-perfect design
- Create visually appealing presentations for key meetings (internally and externally) and designs for complex concepts
- Shape a consistent visual language for our end users that draws on a clear visual hierarchy, typography, iconography, and color scheme
- Conceptualize a visual design strategy for individual products
- Work closely with the team (project lead, developers) and customers to holistically understand business and user requirements, and derive adequate UI designs
- Actively drive visual design improvements during the concept and design process and ensure the best possible implementation
- Contribute to prototyping, user testing and regular design critique sessions to continuously improve the design quality
- Immersing yourself quickly into new topics, terminology and end user tasks

WORK EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a designer with experience in designing software applications for desktop, web and/or mobile devices. Recent graduates and young professionals are also welcome to apply. Your application documents should contain a cover letter reviewing your experiences and your interest, your CV, copies of your degrees (university, apprenticeship, high school) and copies of references from your former employers (if available). Additionally, your application has to include a design portfolio (online or pdf) that clearly demonstrates your ability to design high quality user interfaces.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

- University degree in User Interface/Interaction Design or a related field
- Outstanding visual design skills and a sense for aesthetics and simplicity
- Ability to comprehend and master complex contexts and transforming them into visual concepts
- Strong experience with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch etc.
- Experience in information design, layouting and typography
- Experience in information design is a definite plus
- Experience in presenting to developers and customers
- Knowledge of prototyping tools, e.g. Balsamiq, Axure is a definite plus
- Experience in enterprise software design is a definite plus
- Basic knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript is a plus
- Experience in Design Thinking and user-centered design processes and projects is a definite plus
- Experience in conducting usability testing is a definite plus
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and German
