GS SLS delivers these translated products in close collaboration with our internal customers and more than 2,500 translators and partners worldwide. We offer consulting, planning, technical and linguistic services using our own translation infrastructure. We use state-of-the-art translation tools running on a Citrix-based translation portal, and SAP translation systems. The Language Technology Team provides global support, infrastructure and consulting for language tools at SAP. We are looking for a Translation System Support Associate with a strong translation tool background who is willing and able to implement and maintain technical processes and solutions. The candidate will work on support tasks and requests specific to language technology tools and functionality, and advance her/his knowledge of SDL Trados 2007 and/or SDL Studio/GroupShare server environments.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
- Provide primary and secondary technological support for language technology tools, systems, and landscape
- Ensure SLA adherence and effective ticket handling and dispatching
- Coordinate and execute translation system provisioning, setup, installation, upgrade, configuration and performance optimization
- Ensure continuous connectivity, availability, and general support of overall infrastructure of the tools environment
- Perform administrative and non-automatable support tasks
- Perform translation memory alignments
- Start system jobs and reports
- Document new and modified functionality to ensure effective knowledge transfer
- Support testing of new developments and functionalities
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Candidates should have at least 6 to 24 months of work experience
- Experience in working in a global environment
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required skills:
- University degree (preferably in Linguistics or Modern Languages and Translation)
- Fluent written and spoken German and English
- In-depth knowledge of the SAP translation tools and processes, especially in the area of non-ABAP translation
- SAP terminology and its integration in the SAP environment
- Customer orientation and quality awareness
- Ability to formulate tool requirements, analyze and solve complex problems, and manage customer escalations
- Very organized with high attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks. Flexible team player, but also able to work independently Preferred skills:
- Technical knowledge of SDL Trados/Studio
- Ability to work well in a multicultural team in multiple locations
- Demonstrated interest in IT and general technology topics
